I am SO CLOSE to the finish line on my first complete draft of No One Loves An Angry Woman. The plan is to send it off to my editor before the end of the school year or maybe a little earlier. Then I will be moving into editing and the daunting how do I get people to read this book phase of existential crisis. If you’ve got any good tips on book marketing, pre-order campaigns you’ve seen and loved, or a bookstore you’d like me to visit on tour, let me know!

Links & Recs
Not going to lie, I’m low on recs this month because I feel like I’ve been treading water all month. I think I’ve gotten something like 100 emails from my kids’ schools this month (yes, 20+ per week, I wish I were exaggerating). But here’s a few joyful or insightful things that crossed my path this month:
I finished reading Unfit Parent by
, which was an absolutely phenomenal read I am recommending to parents and nonparents alike. You should definitely check out her interview on
with .
I’m also reading an ARC of
’s new book What’s On Her Mind. If you liked Fed Up you will LOVE her work. And this piece on her Substack about the limitations of famtech is *chef’s kiss*
My kiddo is planning to get this rad haircut, and I feel like it’s going to heal something in me to watch her have this type of autonomy. I wasn’t allowed to cut my hair when I was younger (or choose what I wore, or pierce my ears, dye my hair, wear certain makeup, etc.) and giving my own kid the freedom to is liberating for us both.
I live incredibly close to Lake Tahoe, and love going to Sand Harbor throughout the season. I was skeptical about their new reservation system, but it works great and gave us a really relaxing beach day over Memorial Day Weekend.
My favorite book store in town just turned 3 years old! They put on the best events, including a release for The Glade by Naseem Jamnia which I unfortunately missed while I was out sick this month. But excited to go pick up my copy this month!!
I’ve been using a quintile planning system I learned from
(who I virtually met when I was on Best of Both Worlds) on her personal podcast Best Laid Plans. As I head into quintile three (summer break), I’m amazed at how well this system breaks up my year into manageable chunks and has helped me stick with and adjust goals, rather than abandoning them midway through the year. Also, I buy new planners during summer, and landed on the Standard Issue Agenda. It will be perfect for a fresh start in quintile four (start of school through Halloween).
