Let’s talk about why we’re angry.
Welcome to No One Loves An Angry Woman, a place where I am untangling the cultural conditioning that makes me furious. Here you’ll find glimpses into my life as my husband and I continue to rebalance the mental load, talks with feminist authors of all strokes, and the philosophical things I’m pondering while writing my second book (titled, you guessed it, No One Loves An Angry Woman).
I’m Gemma Hartley, a longtime freelance writer, writing coach, yoga instructor and most notably author of Fed Up: Emotional Labor, Women, and the Way Forward. I have spoken on the topic of the mental load and emotional labor around the world, from corporate conferences to festivals at the Sydney Opera House. My hope is to create work that encourages a more equitable world in which invisible labor is valued and supported by both personal partners and public policy alike.
You’ll catch me in your inbox every week if you’re a paid subscriber, with live author events, a virtual book club attended by the author each month, as well as writing prompts, exclusive workshops, and more. Free subscribers will still get access to my monthly newsletter The Update, as well as public posts.
But if you’re new here and ready for a binge (who isn’t?) here’s where you can dive into my work:
