I’ve just returned from a trip to Big Sur and am in the thick of finishing up my first complete draft of No One Loves An Angry Woman to send off to my editor before the end of the school year. I feel like I’m reaching peak book-crisis mode, which hopefully means a good breakthrough is around the corner (please, god!) — in the meantime, here’s what’s coming up!
1:1 Coaching is OPEN!
My coaching spots have been full since last summer, but I have a couple spots open starting this week. I work with nonfiction authors interested in polishing a proposal to send to agents, those who are working on full manuscripts of all sorts, and folks who are just feeling their way into a sustainable writing practice.
I offer free 30-minute consultations so we can see if we’re a good fit to work together before you commit. Book in now if you’re interested.
ICYMI
I had a fabulous conversation with author of The Good Mother Myth. You can listen in or watch our talk here, and you’ve now got access to all previous book clubs!
Nice Guys™ are just assholes cosplaying as good men - “Nice guys are never mad at other men for their bad behavior — they are mad at women for not being more discerning in their choice of a partner. They blame women for not seeing the red flags that may or may not be there in the beginning. And they hate women for not making the logical choice, the best choice: a nice guy like them.”
Upcoming Events
I’ll be at the Truckee Lit Crawl this weekend, reading at the Piper J Gallery along with poets Dani Putney and Melanie Perish.
I’m also running the next round of my Magazine Writing 101 course starting next week! The class is pre-recorded and comes with a personal 1:1 session to go over two of your freelance pitches.

This piece from
on The Manosphere and its depiction in Netflix’s “Adolescence” is excellent.
I just read KC Davis’ forthcoming book Who Deserves Your Love which has been a great pairing with my current read Love in a F*cked-Up World by Dean Spade. Highly recommend both.
I also read
’s book Building a Second Brain, which has led to some major shifts in organizing my notes for No One Loves An Angry Woman. I love the process of progressive summarization, which I have been using with all my current reads. Fair warning: his writing is based around a very capitalist production-driven philosophy, so tread carefully!
Nepenthe is officially the coolest restaurant I have ever eaten at. Photos cannot do justice to that amazing view of the Pacific coastline.
